There is a multitude of communication with my couples leading up to wedding day but if we haven’t met in person until the Big Day it is always very exciting, I know how much I end up loving all my couples! Caitlin and Rob could not have been more fun and easy to ‘work’ with, the day was an absolute pleasure.
The beautiful Whitsundays provided both the beach vibe and the laidback QLD atmosphere with the reception venue being a match for the bride and groom. Open and relaxed with a touch of country.
How did you two meet and what were your first impressions?
We first met at a coffee shop in Mount Isa, Caitlin worked there and I would go there on a Sunday for coffee. We also had mutual friends that played soccer with Caitlin and had seen each other at games. My first thought of Caitlin was that she was very beautiful and would not be interested in me.
Caitlin’s first thought was I would see Rob around town and was frequent customer at coffee shop. I was intrigued by Robert, as everyone was calling him Red, I didn’t know his name at that time, and I was curious about him and his story. Every time I approached him at the coffee shop, he wouldn’t give me any eye contact, ignored me whenever I had conversation with the group he was with. I ended up finding him on facebook and added him then we started talking , and the rest is history.
How did he/she propose?
After a quick trip to Harvey Bay to buy Caitlin’s new car we travelled back to Rockhampton as Robert had to travel back to work on Monday. Once getting back to rocky we opened a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers to celebrate Caitlin getting her dream car. Once finishing that we were heading to bed and I asked Caitlin what’s would make this weekend better, Caitlin replied by saying “I wish you didn’t have to go to work and could stay longer” . Then I got down on my knee and asked he if this would make it better? While holding a custom made ring holder that looked nothing like a ring box. Then Caitlin opened it and I asked her to marry me. Caitlin’s response was “is this real” and I said of course it is, noted Caitlin hasn’t said yes yet. After 15 seconds I had to ask her is that a yes after she was already putting the ring on and in tears.
What do you love most about each other?
C: The reason why I Love Rob is that we always have fun and silly, taking good care of me and support in my decisions, even if its too many wines at the races. Always believe me when come to new foods or drinks say it’s not spicy or sour, pulling the best facial reactions. Rob always makes sure I am fed so I am not hangry. My family loves him, there is running joke as Rob is the favourite child and can do no wrong. Always been the most helpful person when others need a helping hand. I love how we are both so stubborn but always find a middle ground and solve our troubles.
R: the thing I most love about Caity is that she has the kindest heart always wanting to help no matter what and no matter the situation. Also she finds the best in every person and can always seem to bring it out in them.
What Does Marriage Mean To You?
Marriage is the next chapter in life for us, it is a way of showing our love and commitment to each other. Although we have been together for 12 years already we still see this as an important part in our future as we move forward together.
What was the main inspiration behind your wedding day?
Trying to bring our worlds together with Robert being country and Caitlin loving the airlie beach region.
How would you describe your day? How did you feel?
C: Travelling to the wedding I had butterflies and very nervous but it felt right, the day/night went way to fast I don’t remember eating the nibbles after the ceremony.
R: For someone who doesn’t show a lot of emotion i was very humbled to spend the most important day of my life with so many friends and family. But the day/night did seem to go very fast.
What was your favourite part of the wedding day?
C: Walking down the aisle and seeing my future husbands face light up, also so keen for our first kiss we did it before the celebrant instructed us too.
R: Caitlin’s reaction at the first look and the joy I could see in her eyes as I said my vows to her.
Were there any surprises or honourable mentions you’d like to talk about?
C: Robert and the glasses he was wearing at the first look also when Aunty Alissa and uncle Tim gave me a memorial charm with my pop’s photo in it.
R: Aunty Jackie’s speech, hearing her heart felt words.
How does it feel to be Mr & Mrs?!
It feels like we have added a missing piece to our jigsaw puzzle….there is still a few missing which we look forward to adding in the future.
