Briana & Siân

Last Friday was a Big Day.

It saw Briana & Siân get married, after being together for 10 years! It also saw me shoot my first same-sex wedding!

These two delightful people had quite recently made the decision to formalise their partnership and did so with their most near and dear. (Admittedly Siân’s family had to attend via Skype as they are in the UK!)

One of the best days of 2017 was the day that it became clear that Australia was a big YES, that ALL people were now able to formalize & celebrate their love and commitment. I was stoked for all the people that I personally knew this would impact, and for the thousands that I didn’t know.

So I was extremely excited at the prospect of my first same-sex wedding! Briana found me online a few weeks ago and she and Siân will forever be super special for me. They trusted me with this most important day.

Rings were exchanged at the wonderful Treasury Building after which the newlyweds and their favourite people walked the 10 minutes to Super Normal Restaurant where they were served some rather fancy looking grub and perfectly prepared espresso martinis!

A highlight of the afternoon for me was while having a conversation with Briana’s mum. When I shared with her how excited I was that it was my first same-sex wedding, she looked at me with infinite pride and love and said: “It’s my first one too”. A simple sentence that said so much.

May you have an amazing life together Briana & Siân, may your rainbow of colours be forever aloft!
